About the Course

This 1-day intensive training course in Podiatric Acupuncture is designed specifically for HCPC/CORU registered podiatrists, chiropodists, physiotherapists, doctors, nurses, and chiropractors who wish to expand their clinical skill set with safe and effective acupuncture techniques.

Grounded in Western medical principles of acupuncture, commonly known as dry needling, this course focuses on evidence-based approaches to assessment and treatment within podiatric and musculoskeletal practice.

Clinical Applications Acupuncture can be utilised as:

  • A stand-alone therapeutic intervention, or
  • In combination with other treatment modalities

It has shown beneficial effects in managing symptoms associated with:

  • Musculoskeletal disorders (e.g. plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy)
  • Neurological disorders (e.g. neuropathic pain)
  • Circulatory disorders (e.g. peripheral vascular issues, tissue healing)

Course Sylabus

Participants will gain the knowledge and practical confidence to:

  • Understand the physiological principles and mechanisms behind Western acupuncture
  • Identify appropriate clinical indications for acupuncture use in podiatric care
  • Apply needling techniques safely and effectively
  • Integrate acupuncture into wider treatment plans for optimal patient outcomes

Tutor

Somuz Miah, CFPodM, BSc (PodM), Dip Sp.I, PGC IP, MFPM RCPS (Glasg),is a qualified Sports Practitioner & Podiatrist (Diploma Sports injuries &Electro Therapy).  

Somuz is qualified in Spinal & Peripheral Joint Manipulation HVLA. He has been practicing podiatry for over 24 years. Somuz is a Consultant Podiatrist Prescriber & Member of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons Glasgow.

Venue

This course is accredited by The Institute of Podiatrists.

All course delegates will receive course pre-reading and will be provided with CPD certification and a box of acupuncture needles on successful completion of the course.
