Application for Membership

The Institute of Podiatrists is proud to support and inspire the entire profession of podiatry, from podiatry students and new graduates to experienced podiatry professionals. 

We have 3 membership levels:

1. IoP Member (Full membership)

2. IoP New graduate

3. IoP Student Member

 

1. Full Membership 

A candidate for admission to Membership of the Institute of Podiatrists must possess the qualifications required by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or CORU (Ireland) for registration as a Podiatrist / Chiropodist.

Applicants for FULL Membership of the Institute must:

1. Satisfy the Board of Education and Ethics of the Institute that he/she is of good character.

2. Satisfy the Board of Education and Ethics of the Institute that he/she is in good health, both physically and mentally.   

3. Have completed a course of study recognised by the Board of Education of the Institute.  

4. Inform the Institute of any current, pending, or potential complaints, claims, sanctions or other disciplinary or potential disciplinary matters, from whatever source. In the event of any of the foregoing developing subsequent to application or after admission they must immediately inform the Board of Ethics via Head Office

Designatory letters:

A Member may use after his/her name the post-nominal appropriate to his status with the Institute, for example MInstChP, FInstChP, CFPodM, but any person who has for any reason ceased to be a Member, Fellow or Consultant Fellow shall not after the date on which he/she ceases, describe or in any way refer to himself/herself as a Member of the Institute, nor use any words or letters representing himself/herself to be a Member, nor shall he/she refer in any professional announcement to his/her past connection with the Institute as a Member.

The Certificate of Membership must be returned to the Institute on cessation of Membership.

 

2. New Graduate

On successful completion of your podiatry studies, we welcome you to join The Institute of Podiatrists as a Graduate member. Graduate members must be listed with the HCPC or CORU before their membership can be accepted. Graduate members receive discounted membership rates for the first 3 years post-qualification. Upon registration as a Graduate Member, our team will require a copy of your degree certification.

 

3. Student Member

Student membership of The Institute of Podiatrists is free to all students on recognised BSc or podiatry courses. With student membership of the IoP we can provide you with insurance to work as a Foot Health Practitioner after successful completion of your first year whilst you continue in your studies. Note: Student membership of the IoP does not allow you to use the terms, or imply, that you are a qualified Podiatrist or Chiropodist.

 

Payment:
